Redmi’s Note 12 series phones are here in full swing. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 12 5G in India. And the phone is making its way to Nepal pretty soon as well. Design and Display
Design-wise, Redmi Note 12 boasts the same design language as its Redmi Note 12 Pro siblings. Retaining the boxy form factor, the camera module on the back is identical. It weighs 188g and the thickness is just 8mm. Also, the phone has an IP53 rating for protection against water splashes and dust. Likewise, you get a fingerprint sensor embedded in the power key. And there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster as well. It is available in three color options: Matte Black, Mystique Blue, and Frosted Green.
There is a 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED panel with a 120Hz fast refresh rate compared to 90Hz on Redmi Note 11. This punch-hole screen has a Full HD+ screen resolution and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Also, the display can shine brightly up to 1200nits for sunlight readability. Moreover, there is a 395PPI and 85.0% screen-to-body ratio. It supports 4096-level dimming, and DCI-P3 color gamut as well.
Performance and Memory
On the core, Redmi Note 12 brings in the new Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. This 6nm silicon is 5G enabled and throws 15% CPU and 10% GPU improvement over its predecessor. It is an Octa-core processor with 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 cores. For the graphics, there is Adreno 619 GPU. Moving to the software, the phone boots on MIUI 13 built on Android 12.
For the storage options, the base variant begins from a 4/128GB storage variant and goes up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Camera
Coming to the optics, the phone features a dual camera setup for the China version. The Indian variant adds an 8MP ultrawide camera as well. The primary camera is a 48MP shooter with 0.8µm pixel size and, PDAF. It can shoot up to 1080p videos at 30fps. And the secondary camera is a 2MP depth sensor with f/1.4 aperture. Hence, the ultrawide camera takes a departure from here. While on the front side, there is an 8MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture. For videos, it can shoot up to 1080p resolution at 30fps.
Battery and Charging
The device packs in a 5000mAh battery for the juice. This Lithium Polymer battery also comes with a 33W fast charging support. And the company is shipping the full-fledged 33W charger bundled in the box.

Talking about other specs, the phone comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, GPS (L1), GLONASS (G1), BDS (B1), GALILEO (E1) for connectivity. The expected Redmi Note 12 Price in Nepal is Rs.30,999 for the base 4/128GB variant. In India, the official price is INR 17,999 for the base variant and goes up to INR 19,999 for the 8/256GB variant. It will also come in the Nepalese market due to the massive popularity of the lineup itself.

This mid-range phone is most likely to be popular due to the legacy, its name carries. The specs are impressive for a midrange device. And the 120Hz refresh rate is appreciable. The price has been more expensive than last year though. Nevertheless, Redmi Note 12 is a promising device.
